iPhoto of the Day: Rain

September 3rd, 2010

Was eating lunch in my car, looking through the droplets of rain on my windshield. Thought I’d share the view with you.

Took the picture using Pro HDR in Automatic mode, then finished post processing with Photogene.

Why iPhoto of the Day?

September 1st, 2010

It called have been called anything. Photo a Day, My Daily Photo, etc.. But, I wanted to incorporate the iPhone in a daily shooting regimen. And, since the iPhone is always with me, I have no excuse for not taking an iPhoto of the Day shot.

What I’ve learned by using the iPhone is the importance of composition, looking at the background more carefully, and walking around the subject to get the best shot.

My original goal was to shoot something artistic each day. You know, the WOW type of shots that makes one wonder how such a great shot was taken with a phone camera. As you have seen, that goal has not been achieved as often as I’d hoped.

Instead, the pictures are a slice of’ my life, and the things and persons in my life, giving you, the viewer, a look into who I am as a person, not just another photographer with a blog.

I’m constantly on the hunt for that WOW shot, but in the meantime I’m happy to keep shooting and learning to see the interesting in the things of life.

T-Shirt Wall II

September 1st, 2010

Had to return to Five Below to get some missing school supplies for my daughter. While there I took a second shot (literally) at the t-shirt wall.

I chose a more extreme angle which achieved the results I was after the first time.

Post processing was done with Best Camera’s, Jewel, setting. Then, I did a bit of sharpening using Photogene.

iPhoto if the Day: Wicker

September 1st, 2010

What do you do with a wicker chair that is too old to be used as a chair, but not old enough for a last trip to the curb? Why, you take a picture of it.

Stay Tuned…

August 31st, 2010

Tomorrow I’ll be posting some thoughts on the iPhoto of the Day series.

iPhoto of the Day: Happy Plate

August 31st, 2010

The economy, higher utility bills, kids, dogs, schedules, all these things can keep a person down on the farm for long periods of time.

So, whaddya do when you can’t travel to an exotic location, or the corner store to take an exposure? Why, you look around where you are, and if nothing is appealing, make something up.

Hence, Happy Face, the remnants of a delicious stir fry.

Post processed using Photogene.

iPhoto of the Day: The Future

August 30th, 2010

My young apprentice practicing her skills.

As you can see, this young creative is not hindered by the fashion of the day, or the latest trends. Instead her passions lie in developing her skill as a photographer.

Her portfolio is small, but growing.

Smile!

iPhoto of the Day: Faucet

August 29th, 2010

We have an old double sink deep down in the basement, furnished by a faucet that has supplied water since the early 40s.

What a blessing to find a piece of Americana in our humble home.

iPhoto of the Day: The Core

August 28th, 2010

The remnants of a great apple held between my thumb and forefinger.

Since my feet were not removable they were included in the shot, which leans the entire picture to the down home end of the photographic spectrum.
